 The DAN2400 SoC Silicon Platform

The DAN2400 open SoC silicon platform supports the full scope of access and backhaul products for the BWA or WiMAX radio access network (RAN), integrating a complete base station design with high capacity wireless backhaul capability – on a single chip. Based on a single development environment, equipment vendors are able to design the full portfolio of indoor and outdoor base stations, relays, as well as backhaul and mesh nodes, ranging from powerful outdoor equipment to low-cost indoor pico cells.

The DAN2400 based product design architecture scales from low-cost 2x2 picocells to feature-rich high-performance 6x6 macro cell sectors, with integrated SW options for the concurrent operation of subscriber access, self-backhaul and multi-hop relay functionality.

The DAN2400 also supports DesignArt's dedicated backhaul SW pack, delivering a fully functional solution for high-performance PtP and PtMP backhaul systems with exceptional non-light-of-sight (NLOS) performance.

Highly integrated SoC platform

The DAN2400 SoC integrates on a single chip a complete PHY & MAC access and backhaul solution, a powerful DSP, an embedded high-capacity Wireless Network Processor, several control plane CPUs (ARM cores), and a 6-channel RF interface with integrated analog D/A and A/D cores. This high level of integration results in the lowest possible BOM count for any kind of base station, relay or backhaul solution.

Highly efficient integrated wireless backhaul capabilities

The DAN2400 SoC integrates in SW rich BWA and WiMAX base station functionality with powerful self-backhaul capability. The SoC implements multiple concurrent high-capacity in-band backhaul links, based on its exceptional spectral efficiency. This allows the deployment of flexible PtP and PtMP backhaul, and even multi-hop cluster topologies, enabling operators to deploy high-capacity, high-density Metrozones. A single-chip product design architecture enables any type of backhaul product, ranging from out-of-band high-capacity PtP modems, to fully integrated zero-cost, in-band WiMAX relay and cluster solutions.

Carrier-grade SoC SW Platform

The DAN2400 SoC implements a unique HW/SW architecture, with multiple embedded programmable processor cores, dedicated to PHY, MAC and Application & Control Plane layers. This architecture isolates processing performance along the various ISO communication layers, and provides optimal product stability and reliability, with extensive in-field and in-service SW upgradability options. It also provides a highly configurable and future-proof product platform, with the ability to track evolving customer requirements and open standards evolution, as required for any carrier-grade network infrastructure product. DesignArt has implemented extensive statistics and diagnostics capabilities on all ISO layers, many of which can be operated in real-time without performance penalties - and queried in real-life traffic situations.

Flexible and extensible open SW Architecture

The DAN2400 SoC is bundled with DesignArt’s comprehensive SW packs, including standards compliant 802.16e PHY and MAC, as well as backhaul / relay PHY and MAC modules. System vendors can optionally use these SW modules, or add their own differentiation and software applications – on any layer – even based on external CPU design, if required. In any case, DAN2400 SoC SW packs easily integrate with 3rd party software applications by means of a well-defined structured API
