SW Packs and Open Platform SDK

 The premise of DesignArt is to deliver open SoC platforms to the market place – a combination of SoC silicon chips, pre-integrated SW packs and fully functional reference designs. This enables the fastest time-to-market in the industry, combined with low-cost, high-performance product positioning.

 SW packs are available to vendors and ODMs in either object code format, or source code format. To facilitate vendor differentiation, all licensing options include several SW reference design modules in source code format, e.g. a standards-compliant WiMAX scheduler, or a radio resource manager - which can easily be extended by vendors to meet specific market requirements. 

 Fully functional RAN products, DesignArt SW packs only require integration of OAM&P and control plane layer applications, based on a well-defined SW API. For these purposes, all SW licensing options include DesignArt's open platform SDK; the SDK does not vary with different SoC chipset options, thus maintaining a single R&D framework across all of DesignArt's SoC products.

 Vendors have two main architectural options to build an initial product - the HW integration of the DAN SoC with an external host processor (single-chip baseband architecture), or the integration of all SW applications with the embedded application processing layer (single-chip base station architecture). 

 Customers may even chose a step-by-step approach, starting out with a baseband architecture (minimizing up-front SW portation efforts) and targeting strategic high-performance market segments first, such as micro cells - then porting / integrating application and control plane SW layers as a second step, subsequently targeting more cost sensitive high-quantity  market segments successfully, such as out- and indoor  pico cells.

 While we are constantly expanding our application scope, there are already several complete SW packs available for DesignArt's open SoC silicon platforms:

• PtP / PtMP Backhaul Systems SW Pack

 These off-the-shelf SW packs are completely functional prototype solutions, and can be used for immediate tests or field trials, when combined with DesignArt's reference design (e.g. evaluation kit). Each of these SW packs are available with complete documentation, SDK guidelines, API descriptions, operational guides, as well as exhaustive feature, performance and compliance test reports.
